Interactive light carpet (work name as it is still a work in progress)
An interactive fiber carpet that reacts to how you walk, sit, or lay on it, by changing its light pattern.
The biggest part of this project has been the developing of a nice concept. From the beginning we knew exactly what we didn't want. And the client (Louis Poulsen) only had a vague idea of what they wanted. Our leading word of the project has been (and still is) "organic". So what we have ended up with after a long process is a prototype consisting of two parts. We have a nice circuit that has the sensors, microprocessors and LED's on it and we also have a nice, special way of tufting a somewhat transparent fiber that has enough qualities of a carpet but still letting through the light from underneath. As you might have guessed, this is still a work in progress. Hopefully we will continue working on it soon.
Made together with Marcus Hannerstig, Christian Flindt and Bodil Jerichau.
A special mention goes out to David Cuartielles for all his help.
